  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Nunez cost Liverpool a whopping £85 million ($115m) in 2022 but he has not lived up to that hefty price tag since then. The ex-Benfica man has scored 40 goals and added 26 assists over three seasons but now it seems a parting of the ways is in the offing.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Al-Hilal have reportedly turned their attention to Nunez after Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, who has been on loan at Galatasaray this season, snubbed their advances over a summer transfer. While the Nigerian is not interested in that switch, Nunez may be a more gettable target.

    WHAT NEXT?

Nunez, who has also been linked with Atletico Madrid and Napoli, is likely to feature for Uruguay in their latest 2026 World Cup qualifier on Tuesday night as they host Venezuela. Incidentally, there is a chance he may have played his last game for Liverpool.
