    WHAT HAPPENED?

    England captain Kane has seen a move into American football speculated on whenever the day comes for him to call it quits in the goal-scoring department. As a big New England Patriots fan, the 31-year-old has never shied away from the fact that he would like to try his luck in the United States.

    He remains some way off leaving his current role, with Kane being backed to emulate the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi by playing on towards, and potentially into, his 40s. Watching the NFL from afar, with the Philadelphia Eagles prevailing in Super Bowl LIX, remains a hobby for now.

    Asked by to fill key roles in an American football roster with players that he has worked with Kane said: “Joshua Kimmich as a quarterback, the way he sprays the ball about.” He added: “Wide receiver, Alphonso Davies – I don’t think there’s anyone as fast as him. He’s electric and he’s got a big jump on him.” Kane went on to say: “I’ll take the kicker. I’ll back myself. It’s similar to a penalty.”

    Kane has scored plenty of penalties this season, extending his remarkable run of successfully-converted spot-kicks, and has registered 28 goals through as many appearances for Bayern this season. He is hoping to see 2025 become the year in which his long wait for elusive major silverware comes to an end.
