    THE BIGGER PICTURE

As the legal proceedings began on Monday, La Liga president Javier Tebas urged the Premier to heavily sanction the Manchester club if they are found guilty of flouting the rules. He warned the English top division against discriminating between big and small clubs and claimed that the league would lose their authority if they failed to impose strict punishment on City.

  • WHAT JAVIER TEBAS SAID

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the La Liga chief said, "The Premier League shouldn't give in to pressure, right? Manchester City is just another club, and when you lead an association, you have to act. The Premier League shouldn't differentiate between big or small, or important and ‘non-important’, clubs.

"Manchester City is a member of the association that has committed irregularities and should receive the sanction it deserves. If not, the competition's authority will be lost."
